Entries open for this year’s Lovie Awards, celebrating the best of Europe’s digital creativity
With new categories recognising creativity in responsible AI and immersive art, and a special focus on collaboration, why not put your hat in the ring for this year’s Lovie Awards?
The 2024 edition of the Lovie Awards is fast approaching, and today it has opened its 14th annual call for entries. The renowned ceremony recognises internet creativity throughout Europe and from today, creatives and companies are able to submit their work across AI, XR and Web3, apps, platforms and software, film and video, podcasts, marketing, advertising, social, websites, mobile sites, and more. There are also individual sub-categories calling for the best in art and culture, visual design, brand strategy, art direction and digital campaigns. The deadline for entries is Friday 26 April.
Last year the awards saw 1,200 entries across over 30 countries, and included winners across a plethora of impactful projects. From DEPT®’s custom 3D avatars created for Bang & Olufsen (alongside an award for agency of the year), to the website for sustainable fashion brand Evrnu, Yinka Shonibare’s AI crafted VR experience for the Royal Academy and WeTransfer’s Blue Now series exploring the legacy of filmmaker and artist Derek Jarman.
Categories include gold, silver and bronze awards, chosen by the members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), who will interpret work across seven languages: Spanish, Italian, French, German, Dutch, Swedish and English. This year’s judges include the likes of previous TikTok social strategy lead and current head of social at Feeld, Liz Bertorelli, Founder and CEO of By Rotation, Eshita Kabra, Too Gallus creative director, Barrington Reeves, and creative director at Media.Monks Paris, Ibrahim Seck.
Known for its highlighting of creatives pushing the needle across culture and technology, the Lovie Awards is shifting year by year too. The 14th annual event, has enlisted some brand new recognitions including responsible AI, new honours for architecture, interiors & home, best event website and best immersive experience, alongside a deeper look into something that the creative industry can’t live without – collaborations. It will explore this theme through a look at all-new editorial formats, community events and online dialogues that have stirred the sphere this year.
Of these developments, the awards’ managing director, Jacqueline Kavanagh says “last year marked the dawn of a new era for the Lovie Awards as we revieweds our biggest season of submissions yet, one resounding theme emerged: Europe’s internet is in collaboration mode, Europe’s digital industries are experience a surge of cross-sector collaborations, and in a world increasingly defined by polarisation, these cooperative partnerships have never been more pertinent”.
Also, for the first time in its history, there won’t only be a European Agency of the Year award, but recognition for the best in publishing, brands, and collaboration, creating a wider scope of the different industries and their impact across creativity. As the awards widens its net, the upcoming winners will be joined by other the ranks of previous Lovie Awards Special Achievement winners such as Ai Weiwei, Edward Enninful OBE, founder of Gurls Talk and model Adwoa Aboah and Björk.
