Everyone, and we mean everyone, knows that Childish Gambino’s This is America music video was the most powerful, important and bold clip of 2k18. Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover and his longterm visual collaborator, Hiro Murai, truly cleaned up at last night’s UK Music Video Awards which took place at London’s Roundhouse, — with a total of three award wins. Childish Gambino got Video of the Year as voted by industry peers, as well as best International Urban Video. It also won DoP Larkin Seiple the award for Best Cinematography.

The headline-hitting music video addresses US gun violence, mass shootings and the longstanding racism and discrimination in the United States.

Florence + The Machine and Sevdaliza also picked up multiple awards with director Autumn de Wilde, as well as winning the Best UK Alternative Video award for Ghanaian director Emmanuel Adjei.

Last night was the 11th Annual UK Music Video Awards and flagged up a host of directors and cinematographers working in the industry. You can see the full of winners here.
