Hear from Brian Eno, Pitch Studios and United Visual Artists at AVA’s 2024 London conference

On Thursday 29 February AVA is returning to London for its three-day-and-night artists’ conference. Set to be held in some of the city’s most notable venues – The British Library, The Standard, Camden’s Koko and Here at Outernet, the far-reaching event will host talks, panel discussions, presentations and a keynote exploring the creative arts.

Out to represent the diversity of the city and its encompassing creative scene, AVA are bringing forth the best in electronic music and visual world that is created for it. In the first wave of speaker announcements there is visual artist and ambient music pioneer Brian Eno and writer-presenter slash London Night Czar Amy Lamé. Describing Eno as having “a crucial role in the advancement of society for the better,” AVA highlights his charity EarthPercent, which works to identify and tackle the climate and biodiversity emergency. Also at the event, Amy Lamé will share her ideas and contribute to discussion on the future of international nightlife policy, with the Association For Electronic Music.

It’s Nice That will also be hosting a Q&A session at The British Library on Thursday 29 March with Pitch Studios. The digital arts studio and creative consultancy, made up of Christie Morgan and Chris Golden, specialises in visual narratives and experiences, created with emerging technologies. They have produced projects for clients across technology, the arts and design, including Google, the V&A, Nike, Tate, the Barbican and now closed IKEA research and design lab, SPACE10. Chris and Christie will be in conversation with It’s Nice That’s editor-in-chief Matt Alagiah, and will be talking about their careers to date, the role that technology plays in Pitch’s projects and the studio’s empathetic approach to art and design. The conference is also making space for conversations and advice best suited to those who wish to grow their practices. First, there‘s United Visual Artists, and although it may seem impossible to share the breadth of the studio‘s work, the internationally commissioned and exhibited collective will be doing just that with a keynote lecture. “Playing into the theme of creative pathways,” AVA tells us, “UVA will be speaking on its creative process in the larger-scale projects throughout a 20-year practice”, including visual identities for Drumsheds, Printworks and work in its current exhibition, showing at 180 The Strand. Elsewhere, leading UK artist development agency One House are set to curate a series of talks covering everything from working sustainably with artists in a rocky climate, to navigating brand partnerships as an artist and the role of cutting-edge technology in levelling the playing field for emerging talent.

With a presentation of some flagship content by Resident Advisor – RA Exchange Live and The Art of DJing – set to take place and an exciting lineup of performances by the likes of Marlon Hoffstadt AKA DJ Daddy Trance, DJ Boring, Or:La B2b Spray, Amaliah B2B Danielle, DJ Aya, Byron Yeates, Aika Mal, Sloucho, (and more to be announced), AVA are staying true to its mission of offering the most dynamic programme. “We want AVA London to represent the diversity of the city and the scene [...] extending our offering to broader audiences and bringing important conversations to the fore alongside our clubs and shows.” So, keep your eyes peeled for more announcements.
