It’s Nice That and A/D/O are excited to invite you to From Starting Out to Making It, an evening of punchy, insightful talks featuring some of the best emerging and established creative minds. Join us on October 3 at A/D/O’s creative space in Williamsburg, New York to hear from It’s Nice That, Katy Wang and Ben Hutchings – two of It’s Nice That’s Graduates 2017, and graphic designers Braulio Amado and Anna Kulachek.
The evening will be an opportunity to learn about Ben and Katy’s work, and how they are going about taking their tentative first steps in their creative career. Braulio and Anna will be sharing tales about how they started out in design, the work they have completed to date and revealing insights into their creative processes.
The event is free to attend and you can apply for tickets here. Join us for the talks, and some drinks afterwards, at It’s Nice That’s first ever event in the USA.
We can’t wait to welcome you on the evening!
From Starting Out to Making It
Date: 3 October
Time: 7pm for a 7:15pm start
Speakers:
Ben Hutchings, graphic designer, UK
Ben was selected as one of The Graduates 2017, having studied graphic design at Central St Martins in London. His practice involves book design, typography and websites, executed in a pared-back, yet detailed style. His work often combines science and type in impactful ways.
Katy Wang, illustrator and animator, UK
Katy studied Illustration Animation at Kingston University and was selected as one of The Graduates this year. Her hand-drawn style sees her tell emotive stories through subtle textures, muted colours and charming character design.
Braulio Amado, graphic designer, USA
Portuguese graphic designer Braulio Amado has worked with the likes of Pentagram, Bloomberg Businessweek and Wieden + Kennedy in his career to date. It’s Nice That has been fans of the chaos and vibrancy in his work for years and his refreshing approach continually surprises us.
Anna Kulachek, graphic designer, USA
Ukrainian-born designer Anna Kulachek sees Moscow as her true hometown, having moved to study there over ten years ago. Currently residing in New York, Anna has been art director at the Strelka Institute, a non-profit international education project located in Moscow since 2013. She has been responsible for shaping the strong, graphic identity the institution has become known for.
Supported by A/D/O
Founded by MINI, A/D/O is a creative space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn dedicated to exploring new boundaries in design. At its heart is the Design Academy, which offers a range of programming to professional designers, intended to provoke and invigorate their creative practice.
