Pentagram’s Emily Oberman brands Snoop Dogg’s new line of weed products

A light blue box of “Leafs by Snoop” milk chocolate sits atop a fan of similar colourful packages. The white label on the front lists the THC content and a net weight of “1.72 oz (49g)”.

Pentagram partner Emily Oberman has crafted the identity for Snoop Dogg’s new line of cannabis-based products called Leafs by Snoop. Adopting a “laid-back California cool” aesthetic for the rapper and ganja lover’s range, a leaf motif features throughout. A mix of pastel gold colours and imagery like palm trees, fish, birds and cloudy skies completes the sunny identity.

Throughout the project Emily aimed to wave goodbye to the “rasta, crunchy, hemp, outlaw” look most cannabis products have. Meaning the various flavours of buds, edibles, and concentrates are simply and ambiguously boxed like perfumes.

Like it or loathe it, legalised marijuana is the fastest growing industry in America worth over $2.5 billion, so it’ll be interesting to see whether other design firms tackle projects like this.

Several white cube-shaped boxes for the brand “Leafs by Snoop” are scattered across a yellow surface. Each box features a gold cannabis leaf logo and a colourful label indicating different strains, such as “Lemon Pie” and “Blueberry Dream”.
