MTV is rebooting Cribs and bringing it to the UK
MTV Cribs was a cultural 2000s moment that taught us a lot – Pharrell doesn’t wear the same pair of socks twice, Mariah has a metallic gold soda, and Naomi Campbell’s fridge is basically, a Pepsi ad. (Oh, and lots of artists allegedly lied about their houses for the show). Now, it looks like it’s getting a reboot in the UK as Viacom media announces they will be producing the show to start airing this spring.
“With its firmly cemented status as a cult hit program, Cribs remains one of the most-loved shows in MTV history,” Kelly Bradshaw, the VPof MTV U.K told Billboard today, continuing, "The new series is set to be warm and funny, giving MTV audiences a sneak peek into how their favourite stars live.”
Who might feature on a UK reboot remains to be seen – Adele’s living room might be worth a watch and I’d personally, stay in to see the skin regime of FKA Twigs, or will it show the housing crisis in full effect and lift the lid on south London Techno DJs’ showing us around mice-infested studio flats? Either way, we’ll be watching, cringing and sagely nodding in recognition as we see the magic happen – probably on those Croydon IKEA bed frames.
