Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller has hosted a life drawing class featuring a nude Iggy Pop at the New York Academy of Art.

Following next month’s release of Post Pop Depression, Iggy’s collaborative album with Josh Homme, portraits of the musician will be exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum in the autumn. The Iggy Pop Life Class collection, drawn by artists between the ages of 19 and 80, will then tour a series of yet-to-be-announced museums.

“For me it makes perfect sense for Iggy Pop to be the subject of a life class; his body is central to an understanding of rock music and its place within American culture. His body has witnessed much and should be documented,” says Deller.

Deller’s collaboration with the 68 year old vocalist follows previous creative endeavours with musicians, including his Acid Brass project, which saw him commission brass bands to play classic acid house tracks.
