Stephen Fry's guide to British etiquette welcomes people into the UK
Stephen Fry stars in a new video guide to British etiquette created by London’s Heathrow Airport. The short film is released on the airport’s free wifi page, and is intended to serve as a welcome to overseas visitors explaining the quirks of British culture.
“To showcase the unique, eclectic culture of modern Britain, we’ve teamed up with British icon Stephen Fry, to welcome arriving passengers to the UK!” says Heathrow.
The three-minute video, filmed inside a pub, includes clichés from conversations about the weather, to queuing, and the “after you; after you” loop (“These loops can sometimes continue for several hours,” Fry muses).
“I know we look like an easygoing bunch,” says Fry, “and, well, sometimes it feels like we’ve got more rules of etiquette than a Japanese tea room, but should be fine if you recall the one golden rule: make yourself at home.”
