Gay Times has revealed its newest cover, which showcases and celebrates high-profile Asian members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The shoot, by photographer Gabriel Mokake, features a host of prominent creatives, celebrities and activists. On the cover we see presenters Gok Wan and Dr Ranj Singh, activist Asifa Lahore, musician and CEO of Gaysians Reeta Loi, Lord Waheed Alli MP, CEO Suki Sandhu, food writer Jonathan Phang, Director at Human Capability Foundation Luke Pagarani, playwright Rena Branna, and lawyer Krishna Omkar clustered together on a staircase in a show of unity.

The historic cover aims to react to the lack of mainstream representation of marginalised queer communities from across the south and east Asian diaspora. Speaking about it, Reeta Loi, who the curated the issue tells It’s Nice That: “We have a problem with visibility in our community, which makes it harder for us to accept and celebrate ourselves. What better way to challenge this than by putting ten beautiful, successful, out Asian LGBT+ powerhouses on the cover of Gay Times.”

Previous cover stars have included Antony Porowski of Queer Eye fame, designer Jeremy Scott, trans activist Munroe Bergdorf. The Gaysians issue is on newsstands on 31 October and available for pre-sale now.
