Former Tottenham goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman on his journey from professional footballer to photographer and director

Alfie Whiteman might be the ultimate multi-hyphenate: a former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper turned director and photographer. While playing professionally, he began building what he calls a “parallel life” in the creative world until the two could no longer run alongside each other. Eventually he traded a childhood dream for something less certain and more daring. At Nicer Tuesdays in July, Alfie told that story from back to front: the discipline carried over from elite sport, the long stretches of solitude that pushed him toward the camera and what it actually takes to walk away from one life and commit fully to another.
