It’s here! The final Nicer Tuesdays of the year! See out 2025 with a series of talks set to blow your creative socks off (don’t worry, you’ll be getting more in your stocking).
At December’s event, you can expect talks from Charlotte Mei, a London-based contemporary artist, painter and illustrator who has worked with Sony Music, Hermés, Panasonic and the New York Times, as well as having her work exhibited in London, Hong Kong, Berlin and New York. She’ll be talking about the evolution of her work which has gone through considerable changes. We’ll also be joined by the creator of A View, from a bridge, Joe Bloom, an artist and filmmaker whose viral Instagram videos invite strangers and celebrities to tell stories on an old-fashioned red phone on a bridge. What started as conversations with passerbys has turned into an internet sensation featuring David Byrne, Lil Simz, Cameron Winter, Loyle Carner and more – Joe will be bringing some of these stories to the Nicer Tuesdays stage as he talks about the creation of the beloved internet series.
Following our talks for the evening, Annie Atkins, the Academy Award winning graphic designer will be joining us for a Q&A, covering topics such as the importance of telling your own stories and scoops on working in the film industry! Annie’s work spans books such as Fake Love Letters, Forged Telegrams, and Prison Escape Maps, a book about graphic objects for film sets and her new children’s book Letters from the North Pole, as well as work with Wes Anderson on The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch.
Make sure to get down to the event at 6pm when the doors open to have the chance to grab a drink and snack from our sponsors El Rayo Tequila and Lovecorn, then the talks will begin at 7.15pm. Alongside our sponsors this month, there will be a musical accompaniment from Epidemic Sound, who will be curating the soundtrack for the evening and will also have a booth where attendees can also get an expert-led demo of its soundtracking platform and take home some exclusive merch from the company’s latest drop.
The event will take place on Tuesday 2 December at EartH in Hackney. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and the talks will begin around 7pm. The full address is EartH, 11-17 Stoke Newington Rd, London N16 8BH. It’s a seated event, so get there early to ensure a seat and pick up a drink beforehand!
Please be aware that photography and filming may be taken at this event for marketing and promotional purposes. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed, please speak to our team on the day. Also, if you are in need of disability access, please email hello@nicertuesdays.com so we can arrange assistance with the venue team.
The Academy Award winning graphic designer Annie Atkins will be joining us for a Q&A, covering topics such as the importance of telling your own stories and behind the scenes on working in the film industry. Her (Best Production Design award winning) work with Wes Anderson on The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch, filled with meticulous details and graphic design, has also informed Annie’s books such as Fake Love Letters, Forged Telegrams, and Prison Escape Maps, a book about graphic objects for film sets and her new children’s book Letters from the North Pole, of which she will be doing book signings for at the end of her talk.
Charlotte Mei, the London-based contemporary artist, painter and illustrator will be returning to the Nicer Tuesday stage for the first time in 7 years. Collaborating with brands such as Sony Music, Lulu Guinness, Nike and Giphy, editorial institutions including the New York Times as well as arts organisations such as the V&A amongst many more, she will be talking about day dreaming, collaboration and the evolution of her work which has gone through considerable changes, as well as navigating the creative industry as a working class artist with impostor syndrome.
Last but not least, we will be joined by the creator of A View, from a bridge, Joe Bloom, an artist and filmmaker whose viral Instagram videos inviting strangers and celebrities to tell vulnerable stories on a phone have garnered nearly 600 million followers. From conversations with clowns to virtual reality with Cameron Winter, or decision making with Lil Simz – A View, from a bridge has been a platform for emotionally transparent storytelling, which Joe will be bringing to the Nicer Tuesdays stage where he will be talking about the creation of the beloved internet series.
