Russian photographer Erik Panov's latex and salmon themed fashion shoot

Date
1 October 2015

Erik Panov’s shoot for edgy Russian publication Afisha Magazine combines the worlds of fresh fish and PVC clothing. Titled Latex and Salmon, in theory this combination shouldn’t work but under the guise of fashion and Erik’s ability to create a theatrical but sophisticated shoot, it’s oddly mesmerising.

Working with Afisha’s fashion director Natasha Istomina, the style of the images are inspired by one of Erik’s favourite photographers, Robi Rodriguez. The shoot took place in a luxury hotel in Moscow and it’s great how the interiors become more than just a canvas for the model to languish and stretch across. The textures and sheen of the chairs and coffee tables both contrast and emulate the latex skirts and boots wonderfully. The light is beautifully cinematic, with warm, caramel tones seeping through milky peach and burgundy hues creating an oddly sexy editorial.
