If you’re slightly unhappy in your day-to-day job and secretly feel that perhaps you should be doing something a tad more creative, look away now. This film leads you up whitewashed stairs to a gargantuan, high-ceilinged New York studio, inhabited by two well-known artists, Ana Kras and Devendra Banhart. We’ve featured Ana’s work a few times on the site for her beautiful, simplistic, friendly furniture design and works on paper.
Her partner, musician Devendra Banhart, works alongside her in the studio they share. This film by Discipline Design explores not only the importance of a good studio space, but also having someone there by your side to advise and spur you on to make beautiful objects and correct design decisions. One of the most wonderful parts of this small film is when Devendra explains that the most important part of their day is the walk to the studio – a kind of ritual that sets them up for the day ahead. Nice.
