Wes Anderson has directed the H&M Christmas advert for 2016 starring Adrien Brody, working with ad agency Adam & Eve/DDB.

The cinematic short film, Come Together, tells the story of a train conductor – played by Brody – who starts off the journey announcing to his passengers that the snowy weather is going to delay their journeys home for Christmas. The camera then moves to each of the train’s individual characters, including an “unaccompanied minor” who ends up being the star of a heart-warming tale of togetherness in the festive period.

The short uses Wes Anderson’s signature devices, with straight-on shots and framed compositions, particularly at the start when we’re introduced to the characters through their windows. It’s also packed with beautiful scenery and warm colours, while H&M’s clothing collection is shown subtly throughout.

Ending with John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s classic Happy Christmas, the film has instantly become a front-runner for the most memorable ad this Christmas. Notably, Adam & Eve/DDB also created this year’s John Lewis Christmas ad, Buster the Boxer.
