The team behind Vimeo’s Staff Picks has released its Best of the Year list for 2022, highlighting some of the most creative videos to hit the platform. This year’s list covers a hefty range of categories and includes entries from brands alongside music videos, animation, documentary and more traditional narrative films.
In the branded category, Vimeo selects ten videos that stood out from the crowd. Apple’s 8-minute Escape from the Office film is up there, continuing the Apple at Work series with a humorous story of four employees throwing in the towel at work to start their own packaging company. Then there’s Mastercard’s Spotlight from McCann, which is designed to centre blind and partially-sighted viewers by embedding audio descriptions into the structure of the film from the get-go.
Other brand entries include Christie’s collaboration with choreographer Botis Seva and a fun, animated film from Coors Light, harnessing the aesthetic of presentation deck-building. Doechii’s brilliant sci-fi music video from C Prinz, Crazy, also features; with Vimeo describing how the video addresses “gender stigmas in a fury of fire and fierceness”. In the selection you can explore innovative uses of animation across projects, for example in the psychedelic music video for Running by TSHA or the animated space opera O Black Hole! from Renee Zhan.
All of the Best of the Year videos have previously featured in Vimeo’s Staff Picks. The platform picks over 600 films to showcase in Staff Picks every year – with 85 per cent of those featured believing it has increased brand awareness. Discover the full selection of Vimeo’s 2022 picks here.
