Nous Vous announced as third Illustrator in Residence at House of Illustration
Hackney-based collective Nous Vous will take up the mantle of Illustrator in Residence at House of Illustration from this September.
During its six month stint as Illustrator in Residence, the three-part collective which comprises Jay Cover, William Edmonds and Nicolas Burrows aims to explore the nature of creative collaboration, as they work to produce a plethora of drawing, painting, collage, digital image-making and three-dimensional installation and more together.
Moreover, it will be running a series of workshops at the King’s Cross-based art gallery, in an effort to engage the community, visitors and general public in the pursuit of uncovering new creative ideas, under the theme of “Working Together”.
Nous Vous are third to hold the residency, following Rachel Lillie in 2014 and David Lemm in 2015.
Of their selection, the awarding panel says: “Their spirited exploration of materials and commitment to finding new ways of working collaboratively intrigued and inspired us. Nous Vous’ previous experiments in media from paper to sculpture has opened up discussion about what illustration can be, and we look forward to that discussion being continued during their residency.”
Nous Vous has also recently completed a month-long residency at Facebook’s Analogue Research Lab in California, and founded its own publishing imprint Nous Vous Press, releasing prints, records, picture books and artist monographs.
The work produced during the residency will be the subject of an exhibition in March 2017 at the House of Illustration.
