Grab your brushes, Grayson’s Art Club returns (again) with new submission themes

This March, Grayson and Philippa Perry return to our screens and are encouraging everyone, “whoever you are”, to join them. Having just announced fresh themes for a six-episode run, Grayson’s Art Club, produced by Swan Films, has opened submissions for residents of the UK to send in their artwork. While seasons one and two of Grayson’s Art Club were borne amongst lockdown, as audiences turned to art to “find meaning from what we were collectively going through”, season three will be framed around inspiring “the nation to make more art to illuminate what we now face, whatever that is,” says the two hosts.

Last year over 17,000 people submitted artwork to the show, which featured the work of Boy George, previous It’s Nice That guest editor Yinka Ilori and Banksy, alongside work from amateur and professional artists alike. Each week the show took shape around a theme, such as a particularly poignant episode around family, and followed Grayson – and his psychotherapist wife Phillipa –interviewing artists, mostly via online calls. After the lockdown conditions that both season one and two aired amongst had been lifted, the work from the show was finally able to be put on display across a three-floor exhibition at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery in December last year. The exhibition remains open until 4 September 2022.

Grayson and Philippa Perry have creatively announced the themes for season three using paper signs in a recent video. Reflecting the “ever-changing mood” of the nation, the new themes are: Love, Heroes & Heroines, Normal Life, Inside my head, Holidays and The Future.

Each theme has a separate submission deadline; further details are available on the Grayson’s Art Club site. There, you can submit your artwork of any discipline – the show has so far screened everything from paintings and photography to ceramics and textiles – with up to three images, and a short video of yourself discussing the entry.
