Andy Warhol's first studio selling for ten million dollars
The converted firehouse that served as Andy Warhol’s first New York studio in the early 60s is currently for sale. The bright pink building on the Upper East Side was where Warhol created some of his enduring images of Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor before he moved into the Factory. Close to the Guggenheim and the Met, the space is currently in use as an art storage facility and is selling for just under ten million dollars. New York estate agency Cushion & Wakeman describe the property as a “blank canvas” for developers, with suggestions including “boutique condominiums, a mixed-use rental or a luxury townhouse”.
