Programming genius Todd Vanderlin makes maths fun (and look amazing)
To celebrate Tate Modern’s ongoing Yayoi Kusama retrospective, creative partnership Hellicar and Lewis created ‘The Hello Cube’, a quietly complex, social media-savvy interactive installation inspired by the great Japanese artist’s work The Passing Winter.
Hellicar and Lewis should be praised for such a masterful display of interactive know-how, but the London-based creatives weren’t the only people involved. Programming was completed by longtime collaborator Todd Vanderlin, whose own body of work consists of a mind-boggling mix of custom codes, mathematics and digital art, and whose site is a minefield of realised projects, iterative experiments and code-heavy tips. Who knew further maths could be so downright fun?
