Much of Ricardo Bessa’s work delves into fantasy, so it only seems right that he was chosen to illustrate fan theories for The End of the F***ing World’s season two campaign.
Often found drawing imagined realities of his own, he talked us through how he was tasked with translating other people’s ideas into something visual. “It was really fun, I could do pretty much what I wanted,” he told the Nicer Tuesdays audience.
With an ability to create alternate worlds that involve a multitude of characters, Ricardo, who is now based in London, has produced work for a diverse set of clients, most notably Game of Thrones and Power Rangers: “Which six year old me would have been so excited about!”
In his talk, Ricardo explained to us how he chose the style and imagery to suit each fan’s storylines, taking influence from pulp fiction book covers, and most importantly his beloved Dungeons and Dragons..
